1. hunt flash sales and error fares Business Class Flight
airlines drop business deals randomly. follow delta, united, aa on twitter for 24-hour sales. secretflying.com catches errors – $800 europe business pops up weekly. i got nyc-paris for $800 cash in october. book fast. they vanish.
2. loyalty programs are your best friend
join every one free. chase sapphire preferred → 5x points on travel. redeemed 90k for $1,200 europe business. delta silver status → $50-200 upgrade offers. united pluspoints → buy for 1.5 cents each. scored sfo-tokyo for 40k. earn on groceries too. i maxed welcome bonuses for 200k points last year.
3. book early but not too early Business Class Flight
domestic business: 1-3 months out. international: 2-5 months. expedia data says 24% savings at 28 days domestic. i waited 3 months for bali business – saved $400 over last-minute.
4. flexible everything
fly midweek (tue/thu). save 15%. nearby airports: ord to ewr instead of lga. saved $150 once. google flights calendar view. shows cheapest days. used it for la-paris – wednesday departure dropped $300.
5. upgrade hacks
ask at check-in if business is empty. sometimes free with status or $100 cash. i got a $200 upgrade on american once. just smiled and asked. bid systems on united/british airways. start low ($300). i won a sfo-lhr for $450.
6. mix economy + business
book economy out, business back. kayak hacker fares mix airlines. saved $500 on europe roundtrip. or one-way on different carriers. aa out, delta back = $700 total business.
7. points sweet spots
american aadvantage → 57k to europe business. alaska mile → 20k to hawaii first. i redeemed 60k alaska for sfo-nrt business. felt rich.
