- Ani – Eastern Turkey Old Armenian capital on a windy plateau. Cathedral, mosque, huge walls… sunsets here are ridiculous. safe.
- Hampi – India Vijayanagara ruins scattered over boulders and banana plantations. Temples, elephant stables, giant chariot thing. Rent a scooter and get Heritage lost all day.
- Matera Sassi – Italy Caves people lived in 50s. Whole town glows golden at sunset.
- Tikal – Guatemala Everyone does sunrise and leaves by noon. Stay overnight in the jungle, walk in at lunch and the main plaza is empty except monkeys screaming.
- Ksour of Tunisia – Tataouine area Those Star Wars berber hilltop granaries. Clay fortresses in the desert. No tickets, just drive and park, goats everywhere Heritage.
