Kid-Friendly Paris is still my go-to first stop. Flights aren’t killer from the US, the city looks like a fairy tale even when you’re dead tired from jet lag, and there’s Disneyland Paris right there like a safety net.
We land, grab an Airbnb with a washer (life hack: always), drop bags, and beeline to Luxembourg Gardens. Puppet shows, that pond where you rent those little wooden sailboats—my kids could do that for hours. One time my daughter lost her boat to the wind, burst into tears, then some random French grandpa fished it out with his cane and handed it back like it was no big deal. She still talks about “the boat man.”
Eiffel Tower at night when it sparkles—every hour, kids freak out in the best way. Seine cruise after for sitting-down time. Then Disneyland Paris — okay, hear me out, it’s not just for toddlers anymore. They’ve got that new Disney Adventure World thing opening up soon (like March 2026 or whatever, World of Frozen is already there, people are posting insane pics), nighttime shows that look epic, and the castle is straight prettier than Orlando’s at dusk. We did one full day last time, Lightning Lane for the big rides, snacks from home because prices are nuts. My son rode Big Thunder like 5 times. Worth every euro.
Carousel in Tuileries Gardens—vintage, spins fast, Eiffel in the background. Pure Kid-Friendly joy.

London: No Language Barrier, Maximum Harry Potter
Hop the Eurostar—kids love the train. London feels easy after Paris. English! Double-decker buses! Free museums!
Stay near Hyde Park. Kensington Gardens first—Diana Memorial Playground is bonkers, giant wooden pirate ship, treehouses. Peter Pan statue for photos. Then Warner Bros Studio Tour for Harry Potter—book early, it’s a full day of butterbeer and wands. My teen still has his wand on his desk. King’s Cross Platform 9¾ trolley pic—go early or wait forever.
Natural History Museum dinosaurs, Science Museum hands-on stuff. London Eye if you want views. Borough Market for snacks kids will actually eat. What to Do If You Lose Travel Documents Abroad
It’s chill. Playgrounds pop up constantly. No meltdowns from “I don’t understand the signs.”
Rome Kid-Friendly: Pasta, Gelato, and Gladiators
Italy because food. Kids eat without fights.
Trastevere stay—charming, less crazy, gelato steps away.
Colosseum gladiator family tour—wooden swords, “training,” certificates. My boy framed his. Forum short visit only.
Other Spots That Are Hot Right Now (2026 Edition)
Copenhagen—Tivoli Gardens right in town, old-school rides, lights. Super family vibe, bikes everywhere.
Amsterdam—Vondelpark playgrounds, NEMO science museum. Flat for strollers.
Switzerland (Lucerne)—trains, cable cars up mountains, chocolate. No big hikes needed.
Mix ’em: Paris/Disneyland → London → maybe Copenhagen if time.
The Messy Truth Bits Kid-Friendly
Snacks everywhere. Hangry abroad is brutal.
Kid picks one thing a day.
Hotel lazy afternoons with local candy and bad cartoons.
Tears happen. Jet lag, crowds, “my legs hurt.” Hug, gelato, reset.
Europe with kids is sticky, loud, exhausting—and the best stories come from the chaos. Like when we got lost in Rome alleys and ended up at a tiny pizza place where the owner gave the kids free tiramisu because they said “buono” dramatically.
