Once an underground haven for illicit activities and even an 80s’ rave disco in the old days, this is hardly your typical hotel bar. Led by Food and Beverage Director Joseph Haywood, the cocktail menu brims with playful nods to Singaporean culture. Take Banana Money, a tropical Old Fashioned which blends Irish whiskey with banana juice. It’s a wink to the mythical potianak, a supernatural spirit from Southeast Asian folklore said to haunt banana trees. Or Tiki Katong, a Mai Tai with a twist inspired by the iconic Katong laksa. Despite being located in the cavernous lobby, the elegant bar also somehow pulls off the magic trick of still feeling intimate and cosy. Make the night complete with bar bites from the hotel’s flagship restaurant Po – their signature kueh pie ties are always a hit.
